When their existing Surgical Intensive Care Unit (SICU) was outgrown and major patient monitoring problems surfaced, the Client again tapped McCall & Associates as their primary architect of choice. The newly identified location for the improved SICU was barely 1,000 square feet larger than the existing space; however a highly functional program was developed and the final design not only added a total of 2 patient beds but also increased patient response time by means of direct monitoring from the nurses station.
